Q&A: How much would getting ducts connected under a mobile home cost?

Question by dodgerchic15: How much would getting ducts connected under a mobile home cost?
I live in a mobile home in southern california and have a large A/C unit connected to the main part of the house. I live in the add-on room which has a very old A/C. I want to get rid of the old one and connect the new unit to the add-on room. Is this possible and if so, how much does something like this cost?

Best answer:

Answer by Just wonderin’
It depends on a lot of factors as to whether it is feasible to connect the 2 spaces. Do both areas have a space below the sub-floor that can be accessed from either side? Is the existing ductwork under the house for both units? I am assuming that we are talking about a central system that you are wanting to connect to? One more thing, if you are taking air from the one area to serve the other area, the original area will end up with less capacity.

What is the process in buying a mobile home?

Question by Chavonne: What is the process in buying a mobile home?
How does it work to buy a mobile home? what kind of licenses or applications, hidden costs are involved? thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by Doug
If you are buying a home in an established mobile home park, you should first check with the office manager. They may have an application process in order to be approved.

As far as the purchase goes if you are handling through a real estate agent you will make an offer and that offer will be conveyed to the seller. If the offer is excepted a contact will be prepared and it will provide details related to closing and a mortgage if needed.

Depending on the area in which you live you may find that there are not many companies that write mobile home coverage so you might want to check around before completing your purchase.

Once in the home, check with the Tax Collector or other agency where you get the license plates for your cars. You will need tags for your mobile home.

Best wishes in your new home
