To solve the issue with the volume rocker, I cut 2 sets of about 5-7 small strips of black electrical tape… I then stacked the two sets (5-7 pieces per set) in two positions on the dock, I positioned one set on the dock directly below the Epic keyboard “space” button and the second set I place in the “curved” corner of the dock.

Took about 5 mins and I’ve not had an issue anymore… My son uses the dock in our SUV to watch videos and there’s been no issues whatsoever, after installing tape.

Seriously, 2nd graders would have picked up on that flaw before going to production. Good Job Samsung!

How dumb can Samsung be. What a poor design. To start with, you have to use 2 hands to put it in it. The Nexus One was out earlier in the year and they should have learned. I simply uses 3 contact pins on the bottom and easily slides into the docking station. No lining up USB ports…no covering of buttons. It also knows when It’s in the home dock or car dock to display the appropriate icons. The N1 also senses the light so it auto-dims. This dock may be fine pre N1, but post..COME ON!

I bought one and love it. I put a small rubber piece on the right side so the volume down key doesn’t get pressed.

Buyer beware! This dock is a pain in the rear when it comes to the volume button. Placing it in the dock will oftentimes turn the volume completely down and will also turn the ringer off of your phone. I realize that this video shows a shortcut using the keyboard, but it’s completely useless when the dock continually shuts the volume off. This happens because the cutout for the volume rocker isn’t deep enough. Since the phone rests on the rocker when the phone is docked, the volume is cut.
