I’ve only had this door chime for about a month. But, so far, it has worked flawlessly. I live on the second floor of a three family house and the range on this unit is great. The previous chime I had seemed to work only occasionaly.

The only odd thing that I noticed when reading the installation instructions was that they recommend not mounting the push button next to any metal objects. Since most houses have screen doors, this might be an issue. However, my house is aluminum sided with a screen door and the chime still works fine.

Just received, easy to use and set up! There is another version, same price, that Amazon is selling – this seems to be the more deluxe of the two for exactly the same price. I purchased the extra doorbell set, which I can choose to program with the same or a different chime. I will be purchasing the Honeywell Motion Detector and the Honeywell Wireless Door Contacts after the holidays to expand my little wireless alert network. I like that it has the option of expanding. Both of these devices can be programmed with this Wireless Doorbell Chime receiver. This unit also comes with the option of using a blue strobe light with or without the chime. And each device that is added can have its own chime if you desire. I’ve only had it a day, but so far it exceeds my expectations! Takes an additional 4 “C” batteries which are not included. The battery for the push bell is included. I’m happy with my purchase!

I tried at least three other brands/models before this. What wastes of money. Too quiet, too much interference, so many problems. On the other hand, this Honeywell model is loud, works all over my house across multiple floors and looks nicer than my old ones as well. Highly recommended to anyone who is sick of poorly-performing wireless doorbells.

Some of the other reviewers referenced the provided directions as a waste. I would say you need a basic understanding of electronics to interpret but they are pretty straight forward. I purchased the doorbell unit, the upgraded black with gold plated door button and several door/window sensors. In all I purchased enough parts for 2 door bells and 4 door/window notifications. The product description provided by Honeywell does not tell you for every window or door that you wish to be notified is opened, you must purchase one converter AND one set of wired door contacts. This adds up fast, very fast. In any case, to the set up and performance of the unit. For now I have just set up the 2 doorbells and 1 door open notifier and the set up was fairly easy. From opening the packaging to setting up the door chimes, to mounting the (what I call) door notifier took me about an hour and a half and I played around with the unit allot before installing. Mainly checking out the door chimes but also reprogramming the provided push button and the additional black and gold one I purchased. What I thought was inventive and progressive with the unit is the door open notifier has its own notification aside from the provided door chimes and it sounds like a door open notifier. I think a couple of the door chimes are a bit hokey. I think they were running out of ideas. The unit comes with a volume knob which was an excellent idea on there part as this thing is loud with the volume cranked. The light that is installed in the unit is functional, bright and eye catching and in my opinion is a very useful feature for the hearing impaired. It flashes like a strobe light when the door bell is rung. Of the 6 programmable notifiers, each one has its own display with picture or the option of placing numbers in place of the pictures so when a doorbell is rung or door is opened you know visually what door bell is being rung and so forth. Once again another nice feature for the hearing impaired. I will say if you mount the unit on a wall where a doorbell is usually mounted (high up) the picture feature will not be very useful. With that being said the unit is not ugly and is about the size of a book AND stands on it own quite well. So not mounting it on a wall and just setting it somewhere is acceptable in my opinion. If you do decide to mount it on a wall, hardware is provided and is very simple. If you can hang a picture even somewhat straight, you can hang this unit. In conclusion Honeywell is synonymous with security (at least in my neck of the woods) and the doorbell buttons have the Honeywell name placed right on them which can’t hurt in possibly conveying to a potential intruder your home is fully wired with a Honeywell Security system. In conclusion to my conclusion as I almost forgot the most important point. How is the signal? I believe it to be very good. Now I have not tested nor do I plan to test it to the 450ft working range so I cannot speak to this. What I will say is my furthest door is 40 plus feet away from the doorbell itself and the buttons signal must travel through 2 insulated 2×6 walls plus 2 more interior walls and it works perfectly. No delay to speak of. No repeat button pushing AND the buttons have a signal light on them so the user knows they have pushed the button. I highly recommend this unit. Thanks for the read and I hope this helps in your decision.

Bought to replace an older wireless unit that did not have a “silence” function like this Honeywell (doorbell was near to sleeping infant’s room)

First impressions were very good out of the…clam shell packaging (which I HATES btw…VERY dangerous stuff). Construction quality is probably a little above average, aesthetics are certainly way above average (imo), with a nice, clean, modern design.

Thoughtfully, they added mp3′s of the chimes on the Amazon page so you can listen to see if any appeal to you. I can’t imagine being stuck with a doorbell sound that drives you crazy.

Also of note is the sound quality of each chime. Very high bit rate mp3′s probably. Very little to no distortion (depending on the chime and the volume), so I have to say I was impressed here. I knocked one star off because of only 6 options though. With MP3 compression and technology these days, no reason not to have 10 or more, or better still, the ability to add your own. Just a small nitpick though.

fyi for those considering expanding the system: I bought the expander and three door/window contacts thinking I could use one expander for all three…but nooo. Unless I am very mistaken, you have to buy an extender for EACH set of door/window chimes you want to install! That can be quite spendy if you are trying to cover all your doors and windows! Also, the instructions for the extender are HORRENDOUS but won’t mark that off on this score of course.

PROS: Ability to SILENCE and have unit flash instead of ring. Volume control. 6 chimes, most are good, and very good to excellent sound quality. Design/construction is excellent. Exandibility to include a motion sensor and door/window chimes. Brilliant! Assignable chimes per location! Great! Value for what you get in this unit is really amazing imo. (I paid $39 I think)

CONS: Wished for even more chime options or ability to add my own. Expandibility is not that simple and may require electrical work.

Overall, highly recommended and if I could, would give this 4.5 stars instead of just 4

After using this product for several days I have grown to love the keyboard. The keys are spaced perfectly, it has just the right amount of feedback, and is nearly silent.

I was looking for simplicity( I have never really used shortcut keys) and volume controls, are all I really need. It does have programmable F-keys that can be used as media controls, eject, and monitor brightness. I find typing more comforatable on a flat surface as opposed to raised up on a wristpad. Keyboard 5/5.

On the other “hand” the mouse is terrible. It is a decent size, comfortable in your hand and glides along a pad or desk smoothly. The scroll wheel is very smooth as well, BUT I have never used a mouse that required so much effort to click. It literally needs to be pressed so hard that everytime I right click, my right arm moves up and to the right, causing the mouse pointer to move off my target frequently.

If I could do it over I would purchase the keyboard by itself http://www.amazon.com/Hewlett-Packard-FQ480AA-Wireless-Elite-Keyboard/dp/B001IOHAVO/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1245364930&sr=1-36 and use the savings on another mouse. It is about 25 dollars cheaper for just the keboard here on amazon.

Check out my pictures, this thing looks great on a desk. 4/5

I love the thinness of the keyboard! And it’s a really great product for being so cheap. I have two gripes with this product: a) The USB key turns a bright blue color when you are using this. If you have the USB key anywhere near your peripheral vision, this is a big distraction. I would love to turn it off but I haven’t found out how to do that yet. b) The mouse clicking is LOUD.

I haven’t had this product very long, but I wanted to let potential buyers know that it *does* work with Linux. I’m running Ubuntu 8.10 and I just plugged it in and it worked. The USB subsystem recognized it immediately and I was using it within a couple minutes of taking it out of the box.

The keyboard itself and the mouse are quite nice. I have no complaints. That said, this keyboard is probably not for everybody. If you use a keyboard for a living, like I do, you tend to be very particular about what you like and don’t. For me, this works. Others – particularly those who don’t like laptop keyboards or flat (almost no contour), low-profile keys – may not care for it.

The mouse is perfect in its simplicity and has a nice heavy feel to it.

One very small annoyance: if you use the front USB slot on your computer – or any slot where the USB portion of the device is in view – the light may bother you. It’s very bright and very blue – and it’s on whenever you type or move the mouse. Thus, depending on what you’re doing, it can be effectively blinking and quite distracting.

The keyboard is super thin and sleek. I type A LOT! and the thinner the keyboard the better because I type fast and I don’t need deep keys to hinder the movement of my fingers. And this keyboard is QUIET! The keys are soft sounding and soft to the touch, yet you can feel the depth of the shallow keys as you type so don’t interpret my description that it’s too soft.

The mouse buttons are loud though. You can really hear the click–it’s a firm click

I love the fact that it is truly wireless–just the USB connector on the front of my computer (you can put it in back too) and it works with my desk cabinet door closed too. Some wireless keyboard/mouse use a wired USB connector–not truly wireless.

You do not need to install any software because once you plug-in the USB, the keyboard/mouse will install themselves, but do use the disk to install the the two features it provides, which are battery monitors for the keyboard and mouse. Two tiny icons will show up on your notification taskbar (in the lower right corner by the clock and date) which will monitor the battery lives of your keyboard and mouse–and the install from the disk takes literally about 5 seconds, so it’s not downloading some memory-eating software.

My only complaint was the firm/loud-ish clicking mouse, but everything else is a perfect 10! I think everyone will be quite pleased with this set. They keyboard is just awesome–Thin, Sleek, Chic, Quiet, Comfortable! Superb design HP! I will want this keyboard forever!

So I’ve been using this keyboard and mouse combo for about an hour. I just unpacked it and set it up.

Very easy setup – the Keyboard is great – sleek, stylish, compact, easy to type on and is well built.

The mouse is the polar opposite. Although comfortable in my large hands, it just screams CHEAP. Its buttons are very loud and just feel cheap. And now, literally, 1 hour into using it, the left mouse button is not clicking properly. I have to click down hard. Defective? Yes, maybe the others are not going to have this problem.

But i’ve been working with mice for 16 years.. and this one is one of the cheapest poorly made ones i’ve seen.

If you really like the keyboard, buy it separately and get a different mouse.

Final annoyance, the dongle receiver has the brightest blue led light that flashes with every keystroke/mouse movement. Annoying as heck.

Although i like the keyboard, this ones’ going back. I’m going to go with the new logitech setups that use the same micro receiver for mouse/keyboard. And since i have two laptops, the extra reciever can be used to hook up both!
